A member of the Pownal Red Devils, Cummiskey led the team with 57 points in 30 regular season games and helped his team win the PEI Midget AAA hockey league championship, the Monctonian and Spud tournaments as well as the Atlantic Midget AAA championship. Cummiskey is currently a student at Holland College in the Carpentry program.
The Hurricanes are looking to have Cummiskey as a member of their lineup for the 2013-2014 IJHL season. The team will attend the league's Annual General Meeting this Saturday and then the IJHL Entry Draft next month. The Hurricanes will once again draft at the number one overall position and will look to add a top prospect to their roster as well as make up to three selections from the Pownal Red Devils Midget AAA team with their territorial selections.
Team staff says the team has begun to prepare for the draft. "We've met several times with our coaching staff and scouts and have begun to assess our current roster, what holes we need to fill and areas we need to improve. From there we will attempt to make selections depending on what positions/styles of player we need to improve. We have a strong group of returning players and we're very excited for our second season in the league to begin", said head coach Ryan Maxwell.
