The Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers find themselves in a tie for second place after splitting their games against the two Newfoundland teams on Thursday. In the prime time matchup against the host St. John's Caps, Jeremy Jollimore put the Vipers ahead in the first period with a power-play goal but that would be all the offence they could mount as the Caps came back with a goal in each of the remaining two periods en route to a 2-1 win over the defending champion Vipers to improve to 3-0 and move into the top spot. The Vipers early game was a romp as Logan Reid recorded a shutout in a 7-0 win against the short-staffed Mount Pearl Blades.
The PEI Champs will face the 2-0 East Hants Penguins from Nova Scotia on Friday at noon to wrap up their round robin schedule. Semi-finals go on Saturday with the championship game scheduled for Sunday at 1 o'clock.
